Our theme for the academic year is “Caring for Our Common Home,” inspired by one of the Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus.
In the light of the growing environmental crisis, this theme calls our attention to the urgent need to protect and preserve Mother Earth, our Common Home.
As stewards of creation, each of us is responsible for caring for the environment. This is not just a global concern; it is a personal commitment. Let us come together in action guided by conscience, to protect and nurture our common home for current and future generations.
Our planet is not just where we live; it is our Common Home, the source of the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the beauty that surrounds us daily. Earth is a gift we all share, and with that gift comes a responsibility to care for it with wisdom, respect, and love.
Today, more than ever, our environment needs our attention. Climate change, pollution, deforestation, and the loss of biodiversity are real challenges that affect not just nature but also our health, our future, and the lives of future generations.
But there is hope, and that hope lies in each of us.
We have the power to make a difference through the choices we make, the actions we take, and the voices we raise. Whether it’s reducing waste, conserving water, planting trees, or spreading awareness, every small effort counts. Together, those small steps can lead to significant changes.
Let us all remember, “we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors but we have borrowed it from our future generations.” Let us care for it, protect it, and restore it so that it may continue to be a safe, beautiful, and thriving home for all.
